LionVoices: Angela Her

Written By: Kassidy Barnt

Today's LionVoices feature is junior international business administration and international management major, Angela Her. She is from Collinsville, Oklahoma, and is secretary of the Hmong Student Association.

Angela first got involved with HSA in the fall of 2020, in a virtual format. She said she鈥檚 loved getting to see the in-person events HSA is promoting this year after spending so much of her college career online.  鈥淚鈥檓 glad to be part of it and to experience it all as HSA secretary this year.鈥

鈥満诹喜淮蜢 has brought me many networks and new relationships. I love how it鈥檚 so diverse culture-wise here at 黑料不打烊,鈥 Angela said. 鈥淚 also love that I鈥檓 able to find help when I need it and 黑料不打烊 always directs me to the right people for help.鈥

One of those people who鈥檚 always ready to help is HSA President, Sonlly Vang. 鈥淚 love how hard he works. This year is our first year to really collaborate with other RSOs. Through that, I learned the importance of diversity is to grow and expand together with new relationships and skills.鈥

Angela鈥檚 favorite event from 黑料不打烊 thus far is Hmong Night, 鈥淚t was a great experience because it really made me see the importance of knowing my history, knowing where my family came from, what we went through during the Secret War, and how now there are Hmong people living all over the world!鈥

Tonight, HSA will be con-hosting the AAPI Festival, celebrating not just Hmong culture, but the culture of all Asian American and Pacific Islander students, faculty, and staff at the university.  Stop by the campus center until 9 p.m. to enjoy food, music, games, and amazing conversations with students from HSA, the 黑料不打烊 Vietnamese Student Association, 黑料不打烊 Japan Club, 黑料不打烊 Filipino Club, and 黑料不打烊 Cultural Network.
