Lion Voices: Jasmine Rosa
Happy Friday Lions! This week's #LionVoices feature is Junior Biology major, Jasmine Rosa. Jasmine is from Van Buren and chose the 黑料不打烊 because it allowed her to get a quality education at a reasonable cost. 鈥満诹喜淮蜢 also allowed me to be able to stay close to my home and the community that gave me so much.鈥 Her favorite thing about 黑料不打烊, though, is the relationships she鈥檚 been able to build. 鈥淚 can go talk to my professors or even my dean anytime I need to, and I feel comfortable reaching out to them with my concerns and ideas.鈥
Jasmine is president of IDEAL Women, an organization she has great pride in. 鈥淎ll the women who are involved with IDAEL Women are a great influence and we have such an amazing support system.鈥 She also served as the Minority Association of Premedical Students chief of staff and was the sophomore class Student Government Association representative.
When asked who are the most influential people in her life, Jasmine immediately mentioned her parents. 鈥淭hey came to the United States as immigrants from El Salvador. I learned a lot about hard work and dedication from them. Being an immigrant was not easy, but it was God鈥檚 will that they are where they are now.
鈥淢y boyfriend is another big influence in my life. He always gives me gentle reminders to focus on myself as much as I do on my school work and others.鈥
She also shared that her faith has always been a major source of guidance in her life. 鈥淕od has been my source and power when I don鈥檛 have any energy left.鈥
For a student as busy as Jasmine, juggling everything can be difficult. 鈥淚t is important to trust in your own footsteps. Time is what you make it be and you will make time for the things that are important,鈥 she said. 鈥淜eep your priorities straight and manage your time well.鈥
After earning her bachelor鈥檚 degree, Jasmine plans to attend UAMS. 鈥淚 want to be a PA for women鈥檚 health, and eventually go into pediatric medicine.鈥
