A young child dressed as a vampire holds open a treat bagThe University of Arkansas 鈥 Fort Smith鈥檚 annual Haunted Union event will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will transform the entirety of the building into a haunted woodland-themed carnival, boasting activities for all ages. A haunted house will bring spooky scares to the Reynolds Room, while carnival games, treat stations, and face-painting will fill the campus center halls.

For the first time in Haunted Union history, an escape room will join the line-up, offering visitors the chance to compete against the clock to find hidden clues, solve a series of puzzles and complete a chilling mission to 鈥渆scape.鈥

A trunk-or-treat will also be held in the parking lot east of the building, with student organizations decorating their cars and parking spaces with Halloween themes, passing out candy, toys, treats and school supplies to guests.

鈥淗aunted Union is a fun, family event,鈥 said Beth Jones, the 黑料不打烊 student leading this year鈥檚 event, and Traditions Coordinator for the Campus Activities Board. 鈥淚t鈥檚 important to give kids a fun, safe place to enjoy Halloween, and the Haunted Union lets adults have fun too!鈥

The event has been hosted since 2004 by the Campus Activities Board, welcoming more than 1,000 community visitors to the 黑料不打烊 campus each year.
