
On 31st October, 2020 Legacy Music Inc conducted an online interview with the Legendary Hip-Hop Artist Sergius.
The interview went as follows:
Question 1: Hello Sergius, can you briefly tell us about your background as an emcee?
Answer: Hello everyone I am Sergius real name Frazier Yassin Jr, I am based in Lilongwe born and raised. Started rapping when I was 13 got into freestyles and rap battles when I was 14, did my first recording when I was 17 when I met producer Mic Blaze who later recruited me in his rap group Pleonazm, a year later was also recruited in the Royal Blood army courtesy of Xkalibur and L Planet. Then a year later joined Bass n Truth Entertainment courtesy of Divine Sense aka Justus. The rest is history.
Question 2: What inspires you to do music?
Answer: Music is the safest place for me all the greatest memories of my life are highlighted with music. So I feel if only I can try and make better music maybe someone out there might feel the same way I feel when I listen to good music. Use it as therapy.
Question 3: What kind of message you want people to get when they listen to your music?
Answer: The message I want people to understand that Hip-Hop is more than jus a strong, provocative violent language, Hip-Hop can be used to change lives, teach manners and teach respect of oneself and others.
Question 4: As a well established emcee in the game, what is your advice to the upcoming artists?
Answer: My advice is that Music is the most powerful form of art whatever we speak now stays forever and doesn’t matter how unknown we think we are there’s always someone using music for reference and for day to day lessons. Our messages affect people so its best we give out inspiring, life changing music especially for the kids work on.

Answer:

Question 6: How long have you been doing music?
Answer: I can say 12 years now
Question 7: How do you rate Malawi on Africa Hip-Hop scale?
Answer: We have by far some of the best emcees in Africa I think SA is the only country that can beat us to it. The only problem is our best emcees are not exposed out there
Question 8: What do you think Emcees should do to be exposed internationally.
Answer: I think we can start by always trying to make the type of Hip-Hop we are good at not copying from what other countries do, and make dope videos
Question 9: Any last words before we close?
