FAFSA Information

The first step to receiving financial aid begins with filing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid, better known as the FAFSA. You must file a FAFSA every year. This is the key to obtaining state and federal dollars toward your education.

Once you've filed your FAFSA and accepted any awarded funds, we will help you apply it to your costs.

FAFSA Completion Assistance

Need help or have questions about filling out your FAFSA? Our Financial Aid team is here to help! Email us your questions at FinAid@uafs.edu, or call us at 479-788-7090.

If you are an admitted student and would like to schedule a one-on-one appointment with Financial Aid, you can do so through your . Once you have logged in to your Navigate student account, please follow this process to schedule your appointment:

  1. Choose the "I need help with" button.
  2. Select "Paying for College," then "Financial Aid Assistance," and finally "Virtual Meeting."
  3. Select "Financial Aid Office" and choose the staff member with whom you'd like to meet.
  4. Select the Time that works for you.
  5. Confirm your appointment details.

Professional Judgement

After filing the FAFSA, some families realize that, due to extenuating circumstances, their current financial situation may not adequately be reflected in the tax income information used on the FAFSA. The federal government allows schools to review a family's unique circumstances beyond the student's or family's control to determine if the situation warrants special consideration.

Outside Designated Scholarships

An outside designated scholarship is any scholarshipnot awarded by the government or the school, such as one provided by a private sector company, philanthropist, or foundation. Outside scholarships are considered resources, meaning that they reduce your financial aid package dollar for dollar.

Financial Aid Verification Process

黑料不打烊 partners with ProVerify to process verification. Verification is a review process that a school must use to confirm that data reported on the FAFSA is accurate for those selected by the U.S. Department of Education. The school has the authority to request documentation that supports income and other information reported on the FAFSA.

Obtaining the Tax Return Transcript or Letter of Non-Filing Status

To request a :

  • To print directly, click the 鈥淕et Transcript ONLINE鈥 button.
  • To request a mailed copy, click the 鈥淕et Transcript by MAIL鈥 button.
  • to the IRS to request additional tax documentation, such as the Tax Return Transcript, Verification of Non-filing, and Wage and Income Statement.
The 2021-2022 FAFSA requires tax information from 2019.


NOTE:
 If a tax return was filed for the requested tax year, a Tax Return Transcript will be available. If a tax return was not filed for the requested tax year, a Letter of Non-Filing Status will be provided.


Accepting Your Financial Aid

You can accept your financial aid through your  by following these steps:
  • Click Students
  • Click Financial Aid
  • Log in to Banner Self-Service
  • Select the correct Financial Aid Year
  • Click Submit

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is made up of three components: GPA, course completion rate, and a maximum timeframe. Students are required to maintain a cumulative 黑料不打烊 GPA of 2.0 and a 67 percent course completion rate as well as complete their degree with 150 percent of the credit hours required for degree completion.
